Delhi: Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir said on Thursday that it has not been decided yet in which three Tests Jasprit Bumrah will play for England tour. Also, who will bat at number 4 in India’s Test playing XI, the final decision is also left.
It is not easy to fill Bumrah
Gambhir and new captain Shubman Gill spoke to the media in a press conference before the team left for England. Gambhir said, “It is very difficult to replace a player like Bumrah. But we have no shortage of quality. I had earlier said during the Champions Trophy that when he is not available, there is a big opportunity for someone else to prove myself.”
Information given about Bumrah
After the announcement of the Indian team, BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar gave an update about Bumrah. He made it clear that Bumrah will not play all five Tests of the England tour. This decision has been taken keeping in mind their workload.

Bumrah will play in three Tests
Agarkar said, “It is not yet decided which three Tests he will play. We will discuss with Bumrah after reaching England and then a decision will be taken in view of the situation of the series. The result of the series is important for us and Bumrah also knows its importance.”
The biggest challenge replacing Kohli
There is also a lot of discussion about the place of number 4 in the Test team because this place is empty after Virat Kohli’s withdrawal. Kohli has scored 9230 runs in Test cricket, scored 30 centuries and has strengthened the team for more than a decade. In such a situation, it is not easy to fill their place.
Shubman Gill gave a restrained reply
The new captain Shubman Gill said on this question that no final combination has been decided yet. He said, “We will do a 10-day camp in England, in which an intra-squad match will also play. After that we will decide about the playing XI.”
First Test in Leeds from 20 June
The Test series between India and England will start in Leeds from June 20. Before this, the team will finalize their preparations and take a final decision regarding the role of players.
