Delhi: Veteran fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who was away from the cricket ground since the last Test match played between India and Australia earlier this year, is now ready to return to competitive cricket. The next match of Mumbai Indians (Mi) is against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and team head coach Mahela Jayawardene has confirmed that Bumrah will be available for selection for this match.

Jayawardene said in a press conference a day before the match, “Bumrah is available. He has trained today and he is fit for tomorrow’s match. He is associated with the team last night. He has completed his rehab session in NCA (now COE) and is now under the supervision of our physio. Today he is bowling in the practice session, all is in the right direction.”

Please tell that Bumrah suffered a back injury during the Sydney Test, due to which he had to go through a long rehab in COE. Due to this, he could not become part of the 2025 Champions Trophy campaign in India.

Bumrah’s return is a relief news for Mumbai Indians, who have won only one match in IPL 2025 so far. Last time, when MI and RCB were face to face at the Wankhede Stadium, Bumrah took five wickets while bowling brilliantly and MI won the match by 7 wickets.

After making IPL debut in 2013, Bumrah has become the backbone of the bowling of Mumbai Indians. He has so far taken 165 wickets in 133 matches for the franchise.

Updated on Rohit Sharma

At the same time, coach Jayawardene also updated on Rohit Sharma’s fitness, who could not play in the last match against Lucknow Super Giants due to knee injury. He said, “Rohit is feeling good. He was hurt on his leg while batting, which is hurting a little. Today he will practice in the nets and after that his situation will be assessed.”
