Delhi: New Zealand’s legendary batsman and former captain Kane Williamson has created history against England in Christchurch. He has become the first player for New Zealand to score 9000 runs in Test cricket. 34-year-old Williamson achieved this feat in 182 innings of 103 Test matches.

Before the Christchurch Test, he had 8881 runs in 180 innings. He scored 93 runs in the first innings, and made this historic record in his name by scoring 26 runs in the second innings. The special thing is that the right-handed batsman has left Joe Root and Virat Kohli behind in terms of becoming the fastest to score 9000 Test runs.
19th player to score 9000 runs in the history of test cricket
With scoring 9000 runs, Williamson’s name has been recorded in the history of Test cricket. He is the 19th batsman in the world to do so. Apart from this, Kane has become the joint third fastest batsman to score 9000 runs. He equaled Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and Pakistan’s Younis Khan. He also achieved this feat in 103 tests.
Left Joe Root and Virat Kohli behind
Williamson performed better than Joe Root (196 innings) and Virat Kohli (197 innings) in reaching 9000 runs in Tests. In this list, the record of scoring the fastest 9000 runs is in the name of Australia’s Steve Smith, who achieved this feat in 174 innings of 99 Test matches. Brian Lara had achieved this feat in 100 test matches.
New Zealand’s top test batsmen
Williamson is the highest run scorer for New Zealand in Test cricket. In 103 Test matches, he has scored more than 9000 runs at an average of 54, which includes 32 centuries and 35 half-centuries. After him in this list, the name of former legendary batsman Ross Taylor is there, who scored 7683 runs in 196 innings of 112 Test matches at an average of 44.66.
