BCCI President Roger Binny is the head of the WPL committee. The board had initially considered increasing the number of teams after three seasons, but now they want to strengthen the current teams first.

Arun Dhumal told PTI, “We do not want to decide to increase the number of teams right now to strengthen this tournament. There is no plan to add teams at the moment.”

Expressing happiness over the growing stature of the tournament, Dhumal said, “WPL has gained tremendous popularity within three seasons, especially in the number of audience number in the stadium. Broadcasting figures are also quite encouraging. It has given a new direction to women cricket and we hope that it will continue to grow.

WPL has not yet been held in the format of domestic and outer grounds compared to the Indian Premier League (IPL). The tournament of this year was held in Mumbai, Bangalore, Baroda and Lucknow. In the final, Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals and won the title for the second time in three years.
