Delhi: Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan, in a recent conversation with Cricbuzz, took the name of a special player whom he considers to be the second Virender Sehwag in world cricket. In such a situation, he compared the powerful wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant with India’s former explosive opening batsman.

46 year old Zaheer Khan said, “Rishabh Pant’s playing style is like Virender Sehwag. His batting style is similar to Sehwag, and like him, Pant also needs to play freely on the field. He is expected to perform brilliantly in the upcoming season of IPL.”

Zaheer also called Pant the ‘X factor’ of India. It is noteworthy that Pant was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 27 crore in the IPL 2025 auction and appointed as the new captain of the team.

On the other hand, if we look at Sehwag’s career, he scored 8,586 runs in 104 Test matches with an average of 49.34 and strike rate of 82.23. He has 32 fifties and 23 centuries to his name. Sehwag is also the batsman who has scored the most triple centuries (2) for India in Test cricket. In ODIs, he has scored 8,273 runs in 251 matches with 38 half-centuries and 15 centuries.
