Delhi: Zimbabwe cricket selectors have announced a 15 -member team for the upcoming two Test matches against Bangladesh. This will be the team’s first visit to the red ball cricket in the subcontinent after 2020.
Veteran all -rounder Sean Williams has returned to the team after recovering from a back injury, while captain Craig Ervin is also making a comeback. Ervin withdrew his name earlier this year from a Test match against Ireland.
Along with the return of some experienced players in the team, many important changes have also been seen. Tafadzwa Siga, who was out of the team after making a Test debut against the West Indies two years ago, has been again included in the team.
Wellington Masakadza, who last played a Test against the West Indies in 2023, has once again become part of the team. Wesley Madhevere, who was included in the team instead of Ervin at the last moment in the Test against Ireland, has also been retained. Nicholas Welch, who played a brilliant innings of 90 runs on debut against Ireland, has also been given a chance once again.
At the same time, Vincent Masecesa is the only new face, who is an unkapped leg spinner and has been successful in getting a place in the Test team for the first time. On the other hand, wicketkeeper-batsman Joylord Gambi, young fast bowler Genuine Nyamuri, and top order batsman Takudzwanashe Kitan have not found a place in the team for this series.
Zimbabwe’s team is as follows for the Test series against Bangladesh:
Craig Ervin (Captain), Brian Bennett, Jonathan Campbell, Ben Curran, Trevor Gwandu, Wesley Madhevere, Wellington Masakadza, Vincent Masekesa, Nyasha Mayawo, Blasing Mujarbani, Richard Nagarwa, Victor Nyouchi, Tafadzwa Siga, Viktor Nyouchi, Tafadzwa Sigha, Nicolas Weld.
